Marsannay Blanc, Cuvee Source des Roches, Bruno Clair, 2022
Mostly Chardonnay from the stony slopes of Marsannay in the northern Côte de Nuits, where Bruno Clair coaxes a crisp, terroir-transparent style with real finesse.
Gently aged on lees in a mix of barrels and large foudres, it marries freshness with supple texture and quiet depth.
In the glass, pale gold. The nose is bright and generous, with notes of grapefruit and lemon zest, ripe pear and apple layered with a touch of beeswax, almond and light brioche. The palate is sleek and lively, with fine, silky bubbles of tension (no fizz, just that nervy lift), a pithy, saline edge and a long, mineral finish.
We love it with roast dry aged salmon and trout.
